Copper Deficiency, Gray Hair and Saggy Body Parts

Gray hair? What about crows feet? Sagging body parts? These are indicative of copper deficiency. With copper deficiency, if you let this go on, it will soon lead to the weakening of veins – leading to stroke and heart attack. Now don’t go hog wild, because copper toxicity is very serious too.

Copper, a humble nutrient deserves a shout out.  Grab a seat, it’s review time.

[This copper content is the reason why so many people, including elderly people, find that their hair returns to its original color after long-term blackstrap consumption. Some men have even found that blackstrap molasses can stimulate hair regrowth!]

Deficiency of this trace mineral can be debilitating and threaten our life; and if you have celiac’s disease, deficiency increases.

Copper plays a critical role in the formation of a variety of enzymes and proteins that are important to life. It’s also required for the production in red blood cells, white blood cells and their production and function. It’s important for the absorption and transportation of iron, energy metabolism, development and growth of our bones and connective tissue, the maintenance of our myelin sheath, which are our nerve fibers. It important for our adrenals, thyroid, muscle tone, also our immunity, tissue repair, the pigmentation of our skin and hair and the proper growth of our children.

Copper is absorbed into the blood stream via the upper small intestines, which is good unless you have celiac’s disease. In order to pass through the wall of the small upper intestine and into the bloodstream, it must find a protein friend to attach to. A person with celiac’s usually has inflammation of the intestinal lining which hampers the coppers ability to pass through.

The elastin in our body are more than a person even thinks about unless they’ve been informed. Copper is so very important to the processes of our body where elastin is important.

Aneurysms – healthy artery walls require flexibility

Hemorrhoids – veins in the anus weaken due to lack of elastin

Varicose veins – may develop due to lack of elastin

Difficulty breathing – the bronchial tubes may offer less air flow due to lack of elastin

Aging and wrinkles – lost elastin in our skin

Bone abnormalities and fractures – Copper is a required cofactor for the activity of lysyl oxidase. Brittle bones, poor healing of bone fractures that occur in weakened bones, especially of the neck, and osteoarthritis may develop.

Graying hair – Copper is needed to make melanin, the pigment that colors hair and skin.
